The Shuck Stops Here
An Interactive Mystery Game Through Tyne Valley
The Shuck Stops Here is a self-guided mystery adventure that takes you around Tyne Valley to uncover the truth behind the first unofficial oyster shucking competition — a local legend said to have happened in the summer of '72.
It’s the story behind what would eventually become the official Tyne Valley Oyster Shucking Competition in 1973.
At the heart of the mystery is Finn, a young local currently working out west. His grandfather, Red, always claimed that he and a group of friends started the original shucking competition — but for years, another local man has taken credit.
Finn wants local historian Marnie MacDonald to set the story straight on her Facebook page, Stories of Tyne Valley, but she won’t post it without more proof. That’s where you come in.
Your Mission
Help Marnie gather the missing evidence, retrace the story through clues left behind, and uncover the truth once and for all.
Do you have what it takes to solve Tyne Valley’s oldest shucking mystery?
Please Note:
All characters and events in The Shuck Stops Here are entirely fictional — but they are loosely inspired by the very real history of the Tyne Valley Oyster Festival and its iconic shucking competition. It’s a tribute to the stories, the spirit, and the community that have made this place special for generations.
